Passport Photos: The Floppy Neck Dilemma

Palden will become a world traveller next month when he ventures to Canada to visit Grandma for the holidays.  He needs a passport for his adventures.

Have you ever tried taking passport photos for someone who can't hold up his own head?  The photos need to be taken from a straight on angle.  Quite a challenge when your subject has a floppy neck.

After trying unsuccessfully to find a place that would take the photos for us, we looked online for advice.  It seems most parents end up taking them themselves, so we thought we'd give it a try.

Hilarious. #2 and #3 might work OK. He looks a little bit like a happy Buddha in #3. The only thing I can think of is holding him upside down to straighten his neck, then rotating the picture afterward, but that sounds really unpleasant and unsafe.

My favourite picture is #1, but I think #2 is most likely to suit the legal requirements of the passport administration drones.
